Winter 2005/2006 over the California Region

One of the top-five wettest winters on record in California led Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to declare a state of emergency in seven counties (Monday, April 10). Record-breaking precipitation in March has been followed by a wet start to April and numerous flood warnings are posted in northern California. Above normal snowpack is adding to concerns over flooding.

Precipitation for October 2005 through March 2006 shows all of northern California above normal to well above normal (> 150% of normal).
