Delphey being spelt with a second e. I believe the query came from another list, please pass it on if this is the case. Mike Above the Headstone 1813 - 1930 The Headstone recording the internment hard by of Henry Allen and Richard Delphey was reset on this monument & the ancient doorway adjoining restored by the National Society of United States Daughters of 1812 to perpetuate the memory of these officers and record an appreciation of a humane and chivalrous action of the English People. The Headstone. Sacred to the memory of William Henry Allen Aged 27 years Late Commander of the Unite States brig ARGUS. Who dierd August 18th 1813 in consequence of a wound received in action with H.B.M. Brig Pelican. August 14th 1813 Also in rememberence of Richar Delphey , Midshipman Aged 18 years. U.S. Navy. Killed in the same action Whose remains are deposited hard by this place.
