About Me

I am a professor of climate and atmospheric sciences at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography . On the teaching side I belong to the Climate-Ocean-Atmosphere Program with affiliations in the Climate Sciences, Physical Oceanography, and Applied Ocean Science Curricular Groups.

On the research side I belong to the Oceans and Atmosphere Section with affiliations in the Center for Atmospheric Sciences and the Climate Research Division.

I received my B.S. in Planetary Science (Geophysics) from the California Institute of Technology in June 1990 and my Ph.D. from the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Washington in August 1997. Before coming to Scripps I was a postdoctoral fellow in the Advanced Study Program at the National Center for Atmospheric Research and a visiting scientist in the Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences Program at Princeton University and worked at the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory.
