NOAA's 40th Climate Diagnostics and Prediction Workshop
October 26-29, 2015 in Denver, ColoradoThis workshop will be hosted by the Physical Sciences Division (PSD) of NOAA's Earth Systems Research Laboratory (ESRL) and co-sponsored by the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) of the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) and the Climate Services Division (CSD) of the National Weather Service (NWS). The workshop will address the status and prospects for advancing climate prediction, monitoring, and diagnostics, and will focus on five major themes:
- 1. The evolution of climate diagnostics and prediction over the last 40 years.
- 2. Extremes and risk management: knowledge and products to connect the diagnostics and prediction of extremes with preparedness and adaptation strategies.
- 3. The prediction, attribution, and analysis of drought and pluvial in the framework of climate variability and change.
- 4. Diagnostics and prediction of high impact extreme climate events.
- 5. Prediction and attribution of Arctic climate variability, and the linkages of Arctic variability to lower latitudes.
- July 17: Abstarct Submission Deadline

2015 Southwest Climate Summit
Bridging the Gap: from science to management action in climate adaptation
November 2-3, 2015 in Sacramento, CAA 2-day summit in Sacramento will move "Climate-Smart Conservation" forward by bringing together managers and scientists from across the Southwest. Participants will include natural resource managers, scietists, public agencies, tribes, non-governmental organizations and private businesses. The persistent southwestern drought, near-term El Niño forecasts, nearshore marine systems, tribal resources and building effective partnerships will be among the sessions and activities for the summit. Please click here for a flyer about the summit and visit

96th AMS Annual Meeting
10–14 January 2016 in New Orleans, LouisianaThe theme of the 2016 annual American Meteorological Society Meeting is: "Earth System Science in Service to Society"
The primary idea that motivated the words above is to bring the many parts of AMS into a common theme. The “Earth System Science” theme emphasizes that the growing knowledge of the academic and research communities about our Earth system is a strength of AMS.
- August 3: Abstarct Submission Deadline
